Biscuits
Ingredients:
- 250 grams all-purpose flour
- 15 grams baking powder
- 5 grams salt
- 115 grams cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 180 milliliters whole milk or buttermilk
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 230°C (450°F).
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in Butter: Add the cold butter pieces to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add Milk: Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the milk. Stir just until combined and the dough starts to come together.
- Knead Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together. Do not overwork the dough.
- Roll and Cut Biscuits: Roll the dough out to about 1.25 cm thick. Use a biscuit cutter or a round glass to cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
- Cool: Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
Sausage Gravy
Ingredients:
- 1 pack of Hull’s Pork Sausages
- 30 grams all-purpose flour
- 480-720 milliliters whole milk
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Cook Sausage: In a large pan over medium heat, cook the sausage, breaking it up with a spoon, until it is browned and cooked through thoroughly.
- Add Flour: Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage. Stir well to coat the sausage and cook for about 1-2 minutes to get rid of the raw flour taste.
- Add Milk: Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly. Start with 480 milliliters and add more if you prefer a thinner gravy.
- Thicken Gravy: Continue to cook and stir until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Season: Taste and season with salt and plenty of black pepper.
Serving
- Assemble: Split the warm biscuits in half and place them on plates. Spoon the sausage gravy over the top of the biscuits.
- Enjoy: Serve immediately while hot.
