  • 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sub rolls
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Fresh basil, chopped (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Meatballs:

  • Fry Hull’s meatballs in olive oil until piping hot and in line with cooking instructions on packaging

Prepare the Marinara Sauce:

  • In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
    • Add chopped onions and cook until softened.
    • Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
    • Add crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and pepper.
    • Simmer the sauce for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.

Combine Meatballs and Marinara Sauce:

  • Once the Hull’s meatballs are done baking, add them to the simmering marinara sauce.
    • Allow the meatballs to simmer in the sauce for an additional 15-20 minutes to absorb the flavours.

Assemble the Subs:

  • Slice subs length wise and toast on a hot pan or toaster
    • Spoon a generous amount of meatballs and marinara sauce onto each roll.
    • Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.

Serve

  • Remove the subs from the oven and sprinkle with fresh chopped basil if desired.
    • Serve the meatball marinara subs hot and enjoy!
