Ingredients
- 1 pack of Hulls Platinum Steak Meatballs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sub rolls
- Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Fresh basil, chopped (optional)
Instructions
Cook the Meatballs:
- Fry Hull’s meatballs in olive oil until piping hot and in line with cooking instructions on packaging
Prepare the Marinara Sauce:
- In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and cook until softened.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Add crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer the sauce for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
Combine Meatballs and Marinara Sauce:
- Once the Hull’s meatballs are done baking, add them to the simmering marinara sauce.
- Allow the meatballs to simmer in the sauce for an additional 15-20 minutes to absorb the flavours.
Assemble the Subs:
- Slice subs length wise and toast on a hot pan or toaster
- Spoon a generous amount of meatballs and marinara sauce onto each roll.
- Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
Serve
- Remove the subs from the oven and sprinkle with fresh chopped basil if desired.
- Serve the meatball marinara subs hot and enjoy!
